AURORA Concepts ——– Coming Soon!

Transitioning into 2015 has been transformative in many ways for me. I can honestly say it’s never been a more exciting time. I’ve spend the last couple of months literally redefining myself and reshaping my future. I’ve had business advice from the best and loads of advice from others and slowly but surely the path I want to take has begun to take shape. It has been a Process and it will continue to be a process but I go forward with the pure intention to love what I do and to be of service. It will surely land on its feet. At the end of this month I hope to launch my new website with integrated blog. This blog will enter a dormant phase. Content has been exported to the new blog and I will not post any new blogs here anymore when it’s online. It really is a step in a new direction. Since my new website and blog is hosted on WordPress.org this will mean I will lose my WordPress followers… Hopefully they will find me again online or on Facebook. My new adventure is called AURORA Concepts. It’s a company and blog in one and it will focus on conscious lifestyle services and trends. There is more to come! This end is only the beginning!

Overgaan in 2015 is heel transformerend voor mij geweest op meerdere vlakken. Ik kan eerlijk zeggen dat het nooit eerder zo’n spannende tijd was. Ik ben de afgelopen maanden bezig geweest mezelf letterlijk opnieuw te definiëren en mijn toekomst te visualiseren. Ik heb zakelijk advies gekregen van de besten en heel veel advies van andere mensen en heel langzaamaan werd de weg die ik wil inslaan duidelijker. Het was een Proces en het zal nog wel een proces blijven, maar ik ga moedig voorwaarts vanuit de pure intentie te doen waar ik van hou en dienstbaar te zijn. Het zal vast op zijn pootjes landen. Aan het einde van deze maand hoop ik mijn nieuwe website te lanceren met geïntegreerd blog. Fair and softly goes far blog zal gaan slapen. Content is geëxporteerd naar het nieuwe blog en ik zal hier geen nieuwe blogposts meer posten. Het is echt een stap in een nieuwe richting. Aangezien mijn nieuwe website en blog worden gehost op WordPress.org betekent dit dat ik mijn volgers vanuit WordPress zal verliezen… Hopelijk vinden ze me opnieuw online of op Facebook. Mijn nieuwe avontuur heet AURORA Concepts. Het is een bedrijf en blog ineen met een focus op bewuste lifestyle diensten en trends. Er komt meer! Dit einde is alleen nog maar het begin!

Byredo BLANCHE perfume

Welcome 2015! I do hope it will be an amazing new year wherein all your dreams may come true! It is, so I’ve been told, an excellent year for manifestation (according to astrology) so do make sure to manifest your dreams with a positive attitude and with pure intention. I wanted to share with you my lovely Christmas gift: the perfume BLANCHE by Byredo. I have to confess I’m a sucker for perfume and scent ever since I’ve read the book Perfume by Patrick Suskind. More recently I saw the film The Nose which I also obsessed over. In my next life I want to come back as a perfumer. I confess to stick my nose in every bottle in every expensive department store and after years of cheap perfumes I’ve ‘acquired’ a somewhat expensive taste. This also has to do with the fact that I seem to be allergic to all chemicals, so I need perfumes to be made with all natural ingredients (most cheaper perfumes are not). Byredo is Stockholm based fragrance house founded in 2006 by the tough looking (covered with tattoos) Ben Gorham. It’s focus lies on quality and craftsmanship and it’s products are sold in the more expensive stores such as Skins in Amsterdam. Perfume is such an intimate personal thing, I find it somewhat strange this Ben-guy designed the way I smell. But I love the way I smell and I haven’t received any complaints (yet). So thank you Ben!

Welkom 2015! Ik hoop echt dat het een geweldig nieuw jaar zal worden waarin al je dromen zullen uitkomen! Het is, zo heb ik me laten vertellen, een uitstekend jaar voor manifestatie (volgens de astrologie) dus zorg ervoor dat je je dromen manifesteert vanuit een positieve houding en met een zuivere intentie. Ik wilde graag mijn Kerst-kado met jullie delen: het parfum BLANCHE van Byredo. Ik moet toegeven dat ik een zwak heb voor parfum sinds ik Het Parfum las van Patrick Suskind jaren geleden. Korter geleden zag ik de documentaire The Nose waar ik ook nogal geobsedeerd door was. In mijn volgende leven wil ik terugkomen als parfumeur. Ik geef toe dat ik mijn neus in elk flesje steek in elk duur warenhuis en na jaren van goedkopere parfums heb ik een nogal dure smaak gekregen. Dit heeft ook te maken met het feit dat ik blijkbaar allergisch ben voor chemische toevoegingen, ik kan alleen parfums verdragen die zijn gemaakt met natuurlijke ingrediënten (de meeste goedkopere parfums worden met synthetische stoffen). Byredo is een geuren huis dat is gevestigd in Stockholm in en opgericht in 2006 door de nogal stoer uitziende Ben Gorham die ook nog eens onder de tattoos zit. De focus ligt hier op kwaliteit en ambacht en de producten worden uitsluitend in de duurdere winkels verkocht zoals Skins in Amsterdam. Parfum is zo persoonlijk, ik vind het best een vreemd idee dat deze Ben verantwoordelijk is voor hoe ik ruik. Maar ik vind mezelf wel lekker ruiken en ik krijg (nog) geen klachten. Dus bedankt Ben!  

Happy Christmas & a BLESSed 2015!

I had plans to make a beautiful selfmade design for my Season Greetings this year, but somehow there were other things (buying gifts and wrapping gifts, thinking of desserts to make and more gift wrapping) and no time. There is always (or still) a difference between my plans and reality. “Life happens while you’re busy making plans” So true! I’m working on that! One of my new years resolutions is setting my intentions more clearer and working more diligently towards manifesting them. I do believe we are creators you see. At least we could be, if we trusted ourselves and the magical nature of this universe. If you don’t, well, then magic will not appear. It doesn’t work that way however much I wish it did. 2014 was an emotional and turbulent year for me, I trust 2015 will bring more joy and passion filled creations. Ik had plannen om een geweldig mooi zelfgemaakt ontwerp te maken als feestdagen kaart dit jaar, maar op de een of andere manier waren er andere dingen (cadeaus kopen en inpakken, desserts bedenken om te maken, nog meer cadeaus inpakken) en geen tijd. Er is altijd (nog steeds) een verschil tussen mijn plannen en de werkelijkheid. “Life happens when you’re busy making plans” Dat is zeker waar! Maar ik werk eraan! Een van mijn voornemens is om mijn intenties duidelijker te formuleren voor mezelf en om zodoende ook beter te kunnen werken aan de manifestatie van mijn intenties. I geloof namelijk werkelijk dat we scheppers zijn. Tenminste, dat kunnen we zijn, als we onszelf ten volle vertrouwen en de magische natuur van het universum. Als je daar niet in gelooft, tja, dan zal de magie niet tevoorschijn komen. Zo werkt het helaas. 2014 was een emotioneel turbulent jaar voor mij, ik vertrouw erop dat 2015 mij meer plezier en door passie ingegeven creaties zal schenken. Ik wens jullie allen gelukkige feestdagen en een gezegend 2015! Deze foto plaatste ik eerder op mijn Instagram-account; als je me daar nog niet volgt, je bent van harte uitgenodigd!

Birds don’t cry photography by Anjès Gesink

Birds don’t cry, small birdsuffering in a big city is a photography project and book by photographer Anjès Gesink in collaboration with André de Baerdemaeker, Ernest van der Kwast and Kees Moelike. It’s a book with portraits of birds that found their way to the Rotterdam bird sanctuary Vogelklas Karel Schot. The photo’s depict birds who are in need of a helping hand because they were in a difficult situation. They show the vulnerability of those small creatures that are totally surrendered to human hands and human mercy. They zoom in and allow us to look really close to these birds. How strange that these little beings still find their way in a big city and manage to survive and how sad that sometimes they don’t. These birds are a touch of innocence in an environment that can be brutal and in a way they also are meaningful for us as people living in that city. Because we are also vulnerable and the city can be alien for us too. Let’s look upon these small creatures a little more often and think twice before scaring away a pigeon. Beneath all the filth and sickness from the city there’s a shiny new bird that hopes to fly.

Vogels huilen niet, klein vogelleed in een grote stad is een fotoproject en gelijknamig boek van fotograaf Anjès Gesink in samenwerking met André de Baerdemaeker, Ernest van der Kwast en Kees Moelike. Het is een boek met vogelportretten die terecht zijn gekomen in vogelopvang Vogelklas Karel Schot. De foto’s tonen vogels die hulp nodig hebben omdat ze (soms door menselijk toedoen) in een moeilijke situatie terecht zijn gekomen. Ze laten de kwetsbaarheid zien van deze kleine wezens die totaal overgeleverd zijn aan menselijke handen en menselijke genade. Ze zoomen in op de vogels en laten ze zien op een manier die we niet gewend zijn waardoor we ineens heel goed naar ze kunnen kijken. Hoe vreemd is het dat deze kleine wezens hun weg vinden in een grote stad en dat het ze lukt te overleven en hoe verdrietig dat dit soms niet lukt. De vogels zijn fladderende stukjes onschuld in een omgeving die ontzettend hard kan zijn en in die zin zijn ze ook betekenisvol voor ons als mensen die in een stad leven. Wij zijn in wezen ook kwetsbaar en de stad kan ons ook eenzaam maken en vreemd zijn. Laten we wat vaker letten op deze kleine beestjes en twee keer nadenken voordat we een duif wegjagen. Onder al die vuiligheid en ziekte van de stad zit een glanzend nieuwe vogel die hoopt te vliegen.

Great shops to visit in my hometown: MINGUZ

It’s been almost two years since we moved to Haarlem and I love this city a little bit more every day. I’ve never been that kind of person that feels at home in a particular city, I guess I have the soul of a wanderer, I can make my bed (or hut) everywhere and feel pretty much at ease (proof of this lies in the fact I’ve lived in Almere for more than a decade; a windy kind of place without any sort of creativeness to it). But, I have to admit I’m getting spoiled. I’m getting used to the cute shops and the cosy restaurants and the juicebars (BOS) and all the great places where you can find even greater coffee .(I could go on and on about Haarlem’s lovely shopping climate (the best of the country they say) but well, this post then would go on and on. For now I wanted to give you one great tip, a store that recently opened its doors, a hidden gem you have to make sure to visit. It’s called MINGUZ and it carries a selection of fine clothing brands, jewelry and lifestyle items. Head to Haarlem for your Christmas shopping! And who knows we may run into each other!

Het is bijna twee jaar geleden dat we in Haarlem kwamen wonen en ik hou iedere dag meer van deze stad. Ik ben nooit het type geweest dat zich thuisvoelt in een bepaalde stad, ik denk dat ik de ziel van een zwerver heb, ik kan in principe overal mijn bedje (of hutje) opmaken en me redelijk comfortabel voelen (bewijs hiervan is te vinden in het feit dat ik meer dan tien jaar heb gewoond in Almere: een winderige plek zonder enige vorm van creativiteit). Maar, ik moet toegeven dat ik verwend begin te raken. Ik begin alle leuke winkeltjes en gezellige restaurants en sapbarretjes (BOS) en alle geweldige plekken waar je geweldige koffie kunt drinken normaal te vinden. Ik zou door kunnen blijven zeuren over Haarlem’s geweldige shopklimaat (het beste van het land zegt men), maar dan zou deze post geen einde hebben. Voor nu wilde ik jullie een goede tip geven, een winkel die recent opengegaan is, een verscholen parel die je echt een bezoekje moet brengen. De winkel heet MINGUZ en ze hebben een selectie van kwalitatief goede kledingmerken, sieraden en lifestyle spulletjes. Ga dus naar Haarlem voor je Kerstinkopen en wie weet komen we elkaar daar tegen!

Carly Waito paintings – Amethyst

Lately I’ve been immersed in other worlds. I’m reading a lot of books and due to what’s turning out to be a true Netflix-addiction I’m also seeing a lot of series and movies. I’ve been busy organizing my Pinterest boards and added some new ones. Do have a look and follow me there! I’m having a month off from the Trendacademy and I’m making the most of it by trying to get as much inspiration as possible. I’m reading stuff about sacred geometry and crystals and since synchronicity is a thing in my life these days I came across these beautiful painted crystals by Carly Waito. I chose to feature the amethyst stone since it’s one of my personal favorites. A stone that comes in different hues of purple and pink. Amethyst is considered a stone of spiritual protection and purification. It facilitates the higher mind and it allows one to take action based on higher guidance and spiritual understanding. There are a lot more properties attributed to them, for more information I recommend reading The Book of Stones by Robert Simmons & Naisha Ahsian; a comprehensive encyclopedia of stones, minerals and crystals. I wish you all a peaceful and balanced december!

De laatste tijd bevind ik me letterlijk in andere werelden. Ik lees veel boeken en dankzij een zich snel  ontwikkelende Netflix-verslaving zie ik op het moment ook een hoop series en films. Ik ben ook druk geweest met het organiseren van mijn Pinterest borden en heb een paar nieuwe toegevoegd. Leuk als je een kijkje neemt en me daar volgt! Ik heb een maand vrij van de Trendacademy en gebruik de tijd door zoveel mogelijk inspiratie op te zuigen. Ik lees onder andere over heilige geometrie en kristallen en aangezien synchroniciteit een ding voor mij is de laatste tijd was het niet toevallig dat ik deze geschilderde (!) kristallen tegenkwam van Carly Waito. Ik koos ervoor om de amethyst hier te tonen aangezien het een persoonlijke favoriet is. De steen kan verschillende tinten paars en roze zijn. Amethist wordt beschouwd als een steen van spirituele bescherming en zuivering. Het helpt je om je af te stemmen op je hogere zelf en moedigt je aan om je acties te baseren op een diep spiritueel begrip en hogere leiding. Hij heeft nog veel meer eigenschappen, als je meer over deze (of andere) stenen en hun betekenis wil lezen raad ik je aan het boek De wijsheid van stenen te lezen van Robert Simmons & Naisha Ahsian; een uitgebreide encyclopedie van stenen, mineralen en kristallen. Ik wens jullie allemaal een rustige en gebalanceerde maand decembermaand toe!

Lidewij Edelkoort – Vanities {the mythology of self}

I wanted to go to Lidewij Edelkoort for years. I’m a fan because I think she’s visually one of the strongest (if not the strongest) one in the field and her work is more than just showing the latest trends, it’s very nigh to making art. She’s considered the Grand Dame of trend watching and her forecasts are world renowned. But, for years I simply missed her. That is to say until I started with trend watching myself. Because as soon as I started with the Trendacademy this inspiring world of trendwatchers and trend forecasters opened before me and in a matter of months I saw the biggest names in the Dutch business. And then I got the opportunity to see Li. Of course I wanted to see Li. So I went to Vanities, her latest presentation of SS16 which was preceded by a presentation of active wear. Personally I don’t have a thing for active wear, but according to Lidewij active wear is going to be BIG. We all want comfort in our mobile lives and this comfort wear is going to the next level. She illustrated this by highlighting the sneaker trend and showing that sneakers have now made their way to the Chanel catwalk. It was an inspiring presentation even if I don’t have a thing for active wear, I do have a thing for comfort and the thought that my yoga outfit could turn out to be my day outfit, well that’s fine by me.

After coffee and sweets it was time for Vanities, the main presentation. We began with watching a movie with beautiful handpicked songs Lidewij mixed herself (her playlist is here) and then after the movie she explained the different types, fabrics, colors etc. (keep in mind her main thing is fashion). Her story was that we now live in a time where we constantly record ourself (selfie-craziness) and are building this persona. We are literally making mythologies of self. Or as Li puts it: “Our existence is immortalised by our contemporary anthropological recordings and therefore we are allowed to feel a bit godly about ourselves.” To illustrate these mythologies Li turned to mythology itself to find types of people like ASCETIC, NYMPH, ODALISQUE, ORACLE, TWINS, LEGEND, HERO, ELF etc. Then she sought images to convey each type and this made up the presentation. These personas tell us something about where we’re headed, which types are now living in society and influencing and shaping our future. The images used were just beautiful, I can’t reproduce the exact images (I don’t have them either), but have sought some ‘sister’ images that fit the persona’s I thought were most intriguing. Starting with ASCETIC. Here’s her text about this type (from Trend Union):

Today sees the birth of asceticism where people choose to live a normal simple life. (…) An ascetic’s lifestyle is intended to be balanced, neither too spartan nor too hedonistic; to have enough basics to live life to the fullest.

Ik wilde al jaren naar Lidewij Edelkoort. Ik ben een fan omdat ik haar visueel een van de beste (misschien wel de beste) vind in het vak en haar werk meer is dan alleen het tonen van de laatste trends, het is zelf bijna een vorm van kunst. Ze wordt dan ook beschouwd als de Grande Dame van het trendwatchen en haar voorspellingen zijn wereldberoemd. Maar, ik miste haar steeds. Tenminste totdat ik zelf begon met trendwatchen. Want zodra ik begon aan de Trendacademy kwam ik terecht in deze inspirerende wereld van trendwatchers en forecasters en in enkele maanden zag ik de grootste namen in het (Nederlandse) vak. En toen kwam daar de gelegenheid om Li te zien. Natuurlijk wilde ik Li zien! Ik ging dus naar Vanities, haar meest recente presentatie van SS16 dat werd voorafgegaan door een presentatie over active wear. Persoonlijk heb ik niets met active wear, maar volgens Lidewij wordt active wear GROOT. We willen namelijk allemaal comfort in ons mobiele leven en deze comfortabele kleding zal de komende jaren een nieuw hoogtepunt bereiken. Ze illustreerde dit door de sneakertrend als voorbeeld te nemen en ze liet zien dat zelfs sneakers hun weg gevonden hebben naar de catwalk van Chanel. Het was een inspirerende presentatie ook al heb ik niets met het onderwerp; ik heb wel iets met comfort en het idee dat ik straks mijn yoga outfit niet meer uit hoef te trekken, spreekt me wel aan.

Na de koffie met zoetigheid was het tijd voor Vanities, de hoofdpresentatie. We begonnen met het kijken naar een film met zelfgekozen nummers door Lidewij gemixed (de playlist kun je hier vinden). Na de film legde Lidewij de verschillende types uit, de stoffen en kleuren etc. (haar specialiteit is mode). Haar verhaal was dat we nu in een tijd leven waarin we onszelf continu vastleggen (selfie-gekte) en dat we een geconstrueerd persona bouwen. We maken letterlijk mythologieen van onszelf. Of zoals Li het zelf verwoordt: “Ons bestaan wordt vereeuwigd door ons hedendaags antropologische vastleggen en daarom staan we onszelf toe om ons een beetje goddelijk te voelen over onszelf.” Om deze verschillende mythologieen te illustreren keek Lidewij naar de mythologie zelf om types van deze persona’s te vinden zoals ASCETIC, NYMPH, ODALISQUE, ORACLE, TWINS, LEGEND, HERO, ELF etc. Daarna zocht ze beelden om elke type uit te drukken en deze werden leidend voor de presentatie. Deze persona’s vertellen ons iets over de tijd waarin we nu leven, waar we naartoe gaan en welke types nu onze maatschappij beïnvloeden en onze toekomst vormen. De beelden die werden gebruikt waren echt prachtig, ik mag natuurlijk de gebruikte beelden niet tonen (die heb ik ook niet), maar ik heb gezocht naar ‘zuster’ beelden die bij de persona’s pasten die ik zelf interessant vond. Met name het type ASCETIC. Hier is de tekst uit Trend Union over dit type mens:

Vandaag ziet de geboorte van ascetisme waarin mensen kiezen een normaal simpel leven te leiden. (…) Een ascetische levensstijl is vanzelfsprekend gebalanceerd, noch te spartaans, noch te hedonistisch; het hebben van genoeg basisspullen om het leven maximaal te leven.

From the cutting room floor: Lourdes

I’ve been busy with working on my end presentation for module 1 of the Trendacademy (more on that later). It’s over now and it went well (although there’s always room for improvement) and now I have a month off. It’s already pretty much booked with spending the holidays with family and going to exhibitions and also with writing for this blog and the other one. So for now I wanted to leave you with a couple of photo’s (from the cutting room floor) I made during my summer holiday when we visited the most crazy touristy city I’ve ever been to: Lourdes. Well, I’ve been to other touristy cities of course, but religion was not the main attraction so to say and I’ve really marveled at this strange combination of religious worship and the commercialisation of everything from Maria to Bernadette and the baby Jezus. And all this without blinking an eye. Stores full of Maria’s and Bernadette’s and holy water and people stuffing their basket full with little statues, prayer images etc. It was strangely intriguing though.

Ik heb het heel druk gehad met het werken aan mijn eindpresentatie voor module 1 van de Trendacademy (waarover later meer). Het is voorbij en het ging goed (ook al is er altijd ruimte voor verbetering) en nu heb ik een maand vrij. De maand zit al bijna volgeboekt met feestdagen bij familie en het bezoeken van een aantal tentoonstellingen en ook met het schrijven voor dit blog en de andere. Voor nu dus een aantal foto’s die ik maakte tijdens de zomervakantie toen we naar de meest vreemde toeristische stad zijn geweest ooit: Lourdes. Nou ja, ik ben natuurlijk wel naar andere zeer toeristische steden geweest, maar daar was de Christelijke religie geen attractie zeg maar en ik heb me echt verwonderd over deze vreemde combinatie van religieuze aanbidding en de vercommercialisering van alles van Maria tot St. Bernadette en het kindeke Jezus. En dit alles zonder met de ogen te knipperen. Winkels vol met alleen maar Maria’s en Bernadette’s en heilig water en mensen die een boodschappenmandje volpropten met beeldjes, bidprentjes etc. Het was op een vreemde manier heel intrigerend. 

Fair shops to see: DEERN & more

I’m very happy to see that fair shops and websites continue to grow. Recently I got a press release from a new website where you can find ‘fair’ sustainable clothing and accessorizes. It’s an initiative of Annemarie de Raadt and it’s called de Goede Gids. It features every sustainable shop, brand and web store in Holland where they sell sustainable fair fashion (over 500 addresses are included). And in Ter Aar a new sustainable living store opened its doors. It’s called Cin in Wonen (the owner’s name is Cindy Buijsse): a space of 450 square meters where you can find vintage, antique, brocante and trendy furniture & accessories. Another great tip online is a webstore called Deern. It sells beautiful unique items for children, accessories and small items for your home. It designs and produces all its items in Holland in small quantities. If you are looking for a unique gift for the holidays make sure to pay them a visit. Emma Hagedorn, owner of Deern, was so kind to send me a knot bracelet to review, one of their unique selfmade designs, I love it! It reminds me of my father who actually taught me this knot on our sailboat. The knots we tied in the rope we used to sail with can now be worn as a beautiful bracelet. The material is really soft (softer than actual boat rope) and it’s color proof. I now wear it almost every day! Sustainable fashion, living and other stuff should be normal, there shouldn’t be a question with regard to their honest origin. If we all decide to only shop fair the world would become a better place!

Het maakt me heel blij om te zien dat er meer en meer eerlijke winkels en websites komen. Onlangs kreeg ik een persbericht van een nieuwe website waar je ‘eerlijke’ duurzame kleding en accessoires kan vinden. Het is een initiatief van Annemarie de Raadt: de Goede Gids. Je kunt er elke duurzame winkel, merk en webwinkel in Nederland vinden (er staan meer dan 500 adressen op). En in Ter Aar opende onlangs een fysieke duurzame woonwinkel zijn deuren: Cin in Wonen (de eigenaresse heet Cindy Buijsse): een ruimte van 450 vierkante meter waar je vintage, brocante en trendy meubels en accessoires kunt vinden. Een andere geweldige tip online is webwinkel Deern. Deze verkoopt prachtige unieke items voor kinderen, accessoires en kleine spulletjes voor in huis. Ze ontwerpen en produceren alle producten in Holland in een kleine oplage. Als je op zoek bent naar een uniek cadeau voor de feestdagen kijk hier dan eens! Emma Hagedorn, eigenaresse van Deern, was zo vriendelijk mij een knot armband te sturen om te recenseren. Het is een van hun eigen zelfgemaakte ontwerpen, ik vind hem geweldig! Hij doet me denken aan mijn vader die mij deze knoop leerde op onze zeilboot. De knopen die we in het touw knoopten dat we gebruikten om te zeilen draag ik nu als armband. Het materiaal is heerlijk zacht (zachter dan scheepstouw) en ze zijn kleurvast. Ik draag hem nu bijna dagelijks. Duurzame mode, woon- en andere spullen moeten eigenlijk mainstream zijn, er zou geen twijfel moeten bestaan over hun eerlijke herkomst. Als we allemaal besluiten alleen nog maar duurzame producten te kopen wordt de wereld een stukje beter!

Fotoshoot with Holly Marder & Anouschka Rokebrand

A little while back the lovely Holly Marder from Avenue Lifestyle blog requested models on Facebook for an upcoming fotoshoot. Normally I’m kind off camera shy but since stepping out of my comfort zone is something I’m attempting to do more I emailed Holly for the specifics. I didn’t really have an idea what to expect but I found myself with a lot of other beautiful ladies making flower garlands in a beautiful styled space. It turned out to be a really fun day. Ajda Mehmet made a lot of delicious food which we got to eat at the end (!), Anouschka Rokebrand made beautiful photo’s and Holly Marder’s detailed styling and creative direction really was inspiring. It was a lot of fun to see how something like that comes together and all this hard work was rewarded with a feature on the ultimate wedding blog: Style Me Pretty. I’m very proud to have been a part of it! Thanks again Holly!

Een tijdje geleden deed Holly Marder van Avenue Lifestyle blog een oproep op Facebook voor modellen voor een fotoshoot. Ik ben normaal gesproken nogal huiverig voor camera’s, maar aangezien ik er tegenwoordig een punt van maak dingen te doen die ik normaal wellicht niet zou doen, stuurde ik Holly een mailtje. Ik had eigenlijk geen idee wat ik kon verwachten, maar vond mezelf samen met een aantal prachtige dames in een prachtige gestylede ruimte om bloemenkransen te maken. Het werd een geweldig leuke dag. Ajda Mehmet had heerlijke dingen gemaakt die we aan het einde zelfs mochten opeten (!), Anouschka Rokebrand maakte de prachtige foto’s en Holly Marder’s styling met oog voor detail en haar creatieve supervisie was heel inspirerend om te zien. Het was bijzonder leuk om te zien hoe zo’n shoot samenkomt en dit harde werk werd beloond met een feature op het beroemde bruiloftenblog Style Me Pretty. Ik ben trots dat ik er deel van mocht uitmaken! Nogmaals dank aan Holly!
